  • Work Opportunities: As a Principal Audio Software Engineer at Roblox, you will be working at our headquarters in San Mateo, CA. This role involves both collaborative and independent projects that aim to innovate Roblox’s audio experience across multiple platforms including mobile, desktop, console, and VR. The position requires in-office presence three days a week, with flexibility to work remotely on Mondays and Fridays.

 

  • Role Overview: In this pivotal role, you will drive the enhancement of the audio experience within Roblox’s vast, user-generated content platform. You will develop cutting-edge audio software solutions that immerse players deeply into varied game environments, making each audio experience exceptional.


  • Responsibilities:
    • Lead the development and implementation of advanced audio systems across all Roblox platforms.
    • Design and optimize audio algorithms that enhance user interaction and game immersion.
    • Collaborate with other engineering teams to integrate audio solutions that support Roblox’s expansive game development toolkit.
    • Mentor junior engineers and oversee the audio team to ensure project goals and timelines are met.
    • Manage end-to-end audio projects, from concept through deployment and maintenance.
  • Desired Experience:
    • 5+ years of audio software engineering experience, preferably in interactive and physically based audio within the gaming industry.
    • Expertise in signal processing, including digital signal processing and physical modeling specific to audio applications.
    • Proficient in systems-level C++ programming, with a strong grasp of pointers, templates, and memory management.
    • Demonstrated leadership experience with the ability to mentor and guide a team towards achieving engineering excellence.
  • Additional Skills: Strong project management skills and the ability to work effectively with internal and external stakeholders. Experience in developing tools for sound design that are both powerful for developers and accessible to users. Ability to optimize audio features for various hardware platforms, balancing performance and quality. Deep understanding of the technological and creative aspects of audio in gaming and interactive media.

Compensation: The position offers a competitive salary range from $315,850 to $383,910 annually, depending on prior experience and qualifications.
