  • Work Opportunities: As a Software Engineer in the Fleet Control Plane pod within Roblox’s Compute Group, you’ll tackle complex problems in managing fleet operations across vast arrays of machines, both on-premises and in the cloud. This role focuses on autonomous system design using Kubernetes, aiming to revolutionize how Roblox manages its private cloud infrastructure.
  • Role Overview: Reporting to the Engineering Manager for the Machine Management layer, you will design and implement systems that enhance our capacity allocation and machine lifecycle management. Your work will impact hundreds of thousands of machines, driving efficiency and scalability.
  • Responsibilities:
    • Develop Kubernetes-based systems to automate and manage the lifecycle of a large fleet of machines.
    • Build and maintain the Machine Operational API for functionalities such as Cells, Compute API, and multi-regional automation.
    • Design and implement systems for automating capacity allocation and managing fleet health.
    • Establish protocols for safe and efficient management of machine drains and updates.
  • Desired Experience:
    • 10+ years of industry experience in software engineering.
    • Demonstrated leadership as a Tech Lead on large-scale projects.
    • Strong background in building and scaling autonomous systems.
    • Experience with Kubernetes and cloud infrastructure management.
    • Excellent understanding of production system sustainability and documentation.
  • Additional Skills: 
    • Strong team collaboration and communication skills. 
    • Passion for process improvement and efficiency. 
    • Interest and enthusiasm for solving complex problems in infrastructure management.
  • Compensation: The position offers a competitive salary range from $283,780 to $331,640 annually, depending on experience and qualifications. Benefits include equity compensation, comprehensive health coverage, a rewarding 401k program, and more.
