Role Overview: The Infrastructure Engineer will play a critical role in both managing and evolving OpenSea’s core infrastructure, focusing on scalability, high availability, and cost efficiency across all services. This position involves a significant rebuild of infrastructure to support expanding user traffic and ensure stellar reliability and uptime.
Responsibilities:
Infrastructure Management and Evolution: Operate and evolve critical platform services, including compute (Kubernetes), data at rest (Postgres, ScyllaDB, Mongo), and data in transit (Kafka).
Self-Serve Engineering: Enable engineers to operate independently with self-serve platform services, minimizing dependencies.
System Hardening: Maintain uptime, implement self-healing capabilities, and ensure rigorous security practices.
Monitoring & Alerting: Develop and optimize monitoring and alerting systems to proactively address system issues.
Engineering Team Acceleration: Establish and model best practices for reliable service deployment in development and production environments.
Desired Experience:
Experience: Minimum 5 years in software engineering with a focus on infrastructure.
Expertise in Technologies: Proficient in Terraform, AWS, Kubernetes, and containerization. Experience with multi-tenant Kubernetes and service meshes preferred.
Programming Skills: Proficient in one or more of the following: Kotlin, Python, Go, Java, TypeScript.
System Monitoring: Experienced with tools like DataDog or Prometheus and tuning databases (RDBMS and NoSQL).
Streaming Data Services: Knowledge in services like Kafka, Flink, or Kinesis.
Blockchain Technology: Familiarity with blockchain technology is advantageous but not required; however, a strong curiosity about the field is necessary.
Compensation: This full-time position offers a competitive base salary ranging from $165,000 to $265,000, along with benefits and equity.
