One more big company has announced its intent to enter the metaverse, L’Oréal. According to the World Intellectual Property Organization, the cosmetic company has filed 17 trademark applications showing its interest in the virtual world and non-fungible tokens (NFTs).

Through its trademarks corresponding to well-known brands like Maybelline, NYX, and IT Cosmetics, the company aims to provide “virtual cosmetics, makeup preparations, cosmetic brushes and makeup brushes, digital animated and non-animated designs and characters” and much more.

In the virtual world that the company plans to create, virtual beauty shops will be available for users to browse, purchase, sell, and trade such items.

It seems that the company is joining the ranks of other corporate giants that are interested in entering the metaverse. In the past week, Panda Express filed their trademark “Pandaverse” to provide virtual restaurants, and Victoria’s secret filed a trademark to sell virtual lingerie

Thus, it is only a matter of time before we will live in a technologically advanced world where communities will be able to share their interests and work together in ways that have not previously been possible.
