The city of Beverly Hills has filed seven trademark applications for its iconic name signaling plans to enter the metaverse and the world of non-fungible tokens (NFTs).

The trademark applications, submitted to the USPTO on June 14, state that the offerings would include:

  • Virtual goods, namely, computer programs featuring clothing, headwear, bags, backpacks, art, toys and accessories for use online and in online virtual worlds;
  • Non-fungible tokens (NFTs) featuring images, graphics, text, and audio-visual media content;
  • Virtual and digital interactive representations of the City of Beverly Hills or Rodeo Drive for use in virtual experiences, augmented reality experiences, and the metaverse;
  • Online actual and virtual concerts and other virtual events

The news was shared via Twitter by metaverse trademark attorney Michael Kondoudis.

Due to cities’ moving towards the virtual world, we can soon expect to engage in public events in the metaverse, changing the way we interact, socialize, and participate in events. This belief is borne out by the increasing number of metaverse- and NFT-related trademark filings every day.
