In an attempt to enter the non-fungible token (NFT) market, Paramount Pictures has filed two trademark applications for “Mean Girls“, an American teen comedy produced by Mark Waters in 2004.

According to the applications, submitted to the USPTO on September 7, the company aims to provide:

  • NFTs;
  • NFT-backed media;
  • Crypto collectibles.

The news was shared via Twitter by metaverse trademark attorney Michael Kondoudis.

While Paramount Pictures hasn’t disclosed its plans for the NFT space, these applications demonstrate the company’s commitment to embracing new technologies. With their use, the company will likely be able to re-engage the movies’ fans and create a sense of community.
