Formula One, the highest class of international racing for open-wheel single-seater formula racing cars, has filed eight trademark applications for “F1” related to NFT, metaverse and crypto.

According to the trademark applications, submitted to the USPTO on October 5, Formula One aims to provide:

  • Software for use with cryptocurrency, meta tokens, digital collectibles, crypto collectibles, and non-fungible tokens;
  • Retail store services in virtual goods;
  • Financial transactions via blockchain;
  • Entertainment services using virtual goods;
  • Virtual marketplaces;
  • And more.

The news was shared via Twitter by trademark attorney Michael Kondoudis.

There is no doubt that NFTs are making their way into every industry, including racing. Mercedes-AMG Petronas F1 Team, for instance, announced last April that they were launching a series of NFTs in collaboration with FTX, one of the world’s best cryptocurrency exchanges.
