Meta (Facebook) Files Trademark Applications for Crypto Tokens, Virtual Currency Exchanges, and more

Meta has filed eight trademark applications expressing its intention to provide crypto tokens, virtual currency exchanges, and more.

Meta Platforms, Inc., doing business as Meta and formerly known as Facebook, Inc., has filed eight trademark applications for its logo.

According to the trademark applications, which were submitted to the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office on March 18, 2022,  the company aims to provide:

  • Crypto tokens
  • Blockchain software
  • Virtual currency exchanges
  • Financial and currency trading
  • Digital, crypto, and virtual currencies

Metaverse trademark attorney Michael Kondoudis shared the news earlier today on Twitter.

“These filings reflect the company’s strategy for moving into the metaverse. Meta clearly has significant plans for the virtual economy that will drive it,” Mr. Kondoudis noted. “Meta’s latest trademark filings will surely be of interest to participants in the financial sector and beyond.”

In the wake of its official announcement to introduce NFTs on Instagram, Meta is now taking steps towards the new world and economy that will shape the future.
