Ubisoft has revealed a strategic partnership with The Sandbox to introduce a non-fungible token (NFT) avatar collection to the metaverse.

The collaboration is in celebration of the debut of the “Captain Laserhawk: A Blood Dragon Remix” series on Netflix.

The series, a production by Ubisoft Film & Television, Bobbypills, and Bootleg Universe, draws inspiration from the 2013 video game Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon. It unfolds in a technocracy dominated by propaganda and corruption, with super-soldier Dolph Laserhawk leading a team of rebel outcasts on perilous undercover missions for survival.

The NFT avatar collection, inspired by the series, includes 1,866 avatars featuring nine distinct characters. The avatars will be customized with randomly generated traits and will be categorized into four tiers.

The collection will be available for purchase from tomorrow, November 21, and will remain accessible until November 27.

This collaboration marks a recurrent partnership between The Sandbox and Ubisoft. Their prior joint venture in 2022 brought Rabbids‘ characters and items into the metaverse.

Ubisoft continues to broaden its Web3 initiatives. Recently, the company unveiled Ethereum-based PFP NFTs for the much-anticipated Champions Tactics game. Furthermore, in May, Ubisoft teamed up with Integral Reality Labs (IRL) to introduce an NFT collection featuring characters from the widely acclaimed Assassin’s Creed video game series.
