In a move similar to McDonald’s recent announcement of its plans to enter the metaverse, Panera Bread, an American chain of bakery-café fast-casual restaurants, has filed a trademark application to express its intention to enter the metaverse.

The application, titled “Paneraverse,” exposes the company’s plans to create virtual restaurants and real-life food delivery apps, in which NFTs function as a virtual currency to purchase virtual food and drinks.

“Panera is always working to be at the forefront of tech advancement – as a brand, we are consistently looking for new ways to better our guest experience, whether in our cafes or in the Metaverse,” says Panera chief digital officer George Hanson.

There is no doubt that a new world combining virtual and real reality will soon become the norm in every sector, including the food industry.

Companies are already getting ready to become part of this exciting world that already involves a wide community of enthusiasts.
