PGA Tour Is Set to Enter the Metaverse and Embrace NFTs

PGA Tour has filed trademark applications to enter the metaverse and realm of NFTs.

PGA Tour, the organizer of the main professional golf tours in the United States and North America, has filed trademark applications to enter the metaverse and the realm of non-fungible tokens (NFTs).

According to the application, which was submitted to the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office on May 25, 2022, PGA plans to offer:

  • Downloadable virtual goods, namely, computer programs for the creation and trade of digital collectibles, represented by non-fungible tokens via a blockchain network;
  • Downloadable computer software for managing digital collectible services, a market for transactions, and a registry using blockchain-based software technology and smart contracts for digital collectibles in the field of sports entertainment, featuring professional gold tournaments, players, footage, highlights, data, and more;
  • Providing non-downloadable digital collectibles, represented by non-fungible tokens via a blockchain network.

The news was shared earlier today via Twitter by trademark attorney Michael Kondoudis.
