Yuga Labs, the company behind the Bored Ape Yacht Club (BAYC) collection, is set to launch its new NFT game, Project Dragon, this week.

The announcement was made on July 18 via an X (Twitter) post from Otherside, Yuga Labs’ gaming metaverse project. According to the post, the game will launch on July 27 at noon ET.

The post specified that “Meebits, Voyagers, Kodas, BAYC, MAYC, BAKC, Grailed, Moonbirds, Kodamara, & HVs” can all attend the event, with more details to be shared soon.

Greg Solano, Yuga Labs’ co-founder and CEO, added in a repost, “Lots more info to come. But for now, save the date.”

Details about the game are limited, but Solano mentioned in a July 18 post that the game will feature “action gameplay” where players will need to “Capture a point and defend it.”

Greg Solano resumed the role of CEO at Yuga Labs in February, focusing on new plans for the company’s various projects. He emphasized gaming and committed to concentrating efforts on areas where the company has seen success.

The Otherside metaverse is one such successful project for Yuga Labs. It is an adventure-based, multiplayer game that operates through “Trips.” The game recorded 4,500 concurrent players during its first trip and 7,200 during the second.

A 2023 report by The Block Research highlighted the success of Yuga Labs’ Otherside project in the NFT land sale market, generating over $3 million in 2023. The “Otherdeeds” collection — 100,000 NFTs that offer virtual land ownership within the Otherside metaverse — topped the list.
