American singer Melissa Viviane Jefferson, known professionally as Lizzo, has filed eight new trademark applications for “LIZZO,” “BIG GRRRL TWERK OUT,” “THE BIG GRRRLS,” and “100% THAT BITCH”, expressing her intention to enter the metaverse.

The celebrity aims to provide non-fungible tokens (NFTs), and virtual goods, including headwear, footwear, handbags, eyewear, musical instruments, musical sound recordings, posters, clothing, and much more, for use in virtual worlds.

Furthermore, Lizzo’s trademark applications mention that she intends to provide entertainment services that include and provide virtual goods, as well as organizing and conducting virtual concerts.

Metaverse trademark attorney Michael Kondoudis shared the news via Twitter earlier today.

“Recording artists filing trademark applications for NFTs and virtual products is not unusual anymore,” Mr. Kondoudis notes. “Artists as diverse as BILLIE EILISH, DOLLY PARTON, GRANDMASTER FLASH, BOB MARLEY, and KISS have filed similar applications for their trademarks to begin preparations to participate in the virtual economy of the Metaverse.”
