Kraft Foods, one of North America’s leading consumer packaged food and beverage corporations, has submitted a trademark application for “The Wienermobile” in order to join the metaverse and the realm of non-fungible tokens (NFTs).

The Wienermobile, a fleet of motor vehicles styled like a hot dog on a bun and used in the United States to promote and market Oscar Mayer goods, debuted in 1936 and quickly became a national icon; now, after 86 years, it’s time to put it back on the road, but this time it’ll be a digital road.

According to the application, which was filed with the USPTO on October 12, the company intends to provide:

  • Virtual food and beverage products;
  • NFTs;
  • Online virtual restaurants featuring actual and virtual foods.

The news was shared via Twitter by trademark attorney Josh Gerben.

This submission comes after Kraft Foods submitted trademark applications for “Kraft,” “Jell-O,” “Kool-Aid,” “Velveeta,” “Lunchables,” “Oscar Mayer,” and “Philadelphia” for metaverse and NFT purposes in June.
