Kraft Foods to Enter the Metaverse with NFTs, Virtual Restaurants, Food, and Drinks

Kraft Foods has filed trademark applications to enter the metaverse and the world of NFTs.

American food manufacturing and processing conglomerate Kraft Foods has filed trademark applications for “Kraft,” Jell-O,” “Kool-Aid,” “Velveeta,” “Lunchables,” “Oscar Mayer,” and “Philadelphia” to enter the metaverse and the non-fungible token (NFT) space.

According to the applications, submitted to the USPTO on June 7, the company aims to provide:

  • Virtual foods and drinks;
  • NFTs and NFT-backed media;
  • Digital tokens and collectibles;
  • Stores featuring NFTs and virtual goods;
  • Marketplaces for virtual goods, services, and NFTs;
  • Virtual restaurants where users can earn reward points and virtual currency.

The news was shared earlier today via Twitter by trademark attorney Michael Kondoudis.

Kraft is not alone in taking steps to enter the metaverse; many other food companies have as well.

Recently, Subway, Hooters, Taco Bell, KFC, Burger King, Panera Bread, McDonald’s, Wingstop, Panda Express, Tyson Foods, Carl’s Jr., and others, have already filed trademark applications to concretize their intentions to enter the metaverse and NFT space.
