KFC to Enter the Metaverse with Virtual Food and Restaurants

KFC has filed trademark applications to enter the metaverse and embrace non-fungible tokens (NFTs).

KFC, the world’s second-largest chain of fast-food restaurants after McDonald’s, has filed trademark applications to enter the metaverse and embrace non-fungible tokens (NFTs).

As described in the applications, the company aims to provide virtual goods, like food and drinks, as well as NFTs.

Additionally, the company plans to provide online retail services featuring NFTs, virtual restaurants, and food and drink items available in virtual spaces.

Moreover, the company’s plans include the launch of a virtual restaurant where users can earn reward points and virtual currency, which can then be used to buy food and beverages in the real or virtual world. Real-world delivery will also be available through the virtual restaurant.

The news was shared by trademark attorney Michael Kondoudis earlier today on Twitter.

Following the example of Burger King,  Panera Bread, McDonald’s, Wingstop, Panda Express, Tyson Foods, and others, KFC follows the path toward the transition of the virtual world that has already attracted a large community and is expected to do so even more in the future.
