Mars Inc. has filed a trademark application for “SNICKERS” signaling intentions to enter the metaverse and the world on non-fungible tokens (NFTs).

According to the application, submitted to the USPTO on June 13, the brand aims to provide:

  • NFTs or other digital tokens based on blockchain technology;
  • Virtual products, namely chocolate, confectionery, frozen confectionery, candy and gum, virtual snacks and drinks;
  • Online retail store services featuring virtual products;
  • Online virtual store environments featuring virtual products, virtual art and avatars for use in virtual environments.

The news was shared earlier today via Twitter by metaverse trademark attorney Michael Kondoudis.

Increasingly, trademark filings related to NFTs and Metaverse are being filed, and the food industry seems to be one of the most active.

UTZ, Conagra Brands, Panera Bread, Wingstop, Panda Express, McDonald’s, and others have also applied for trademarks to enter the metaverse with virtual food.
