Wawa, Inc., the American chain of convenience stores and gas stations located along the East Coast of the United States, has filed a trademark application expressing its intention to enter the metaverse.

According to the application, the company intends to provide virtual goods, including virtual foods and beverages, as well as non-fungible tokens (NFTs).

In addition, the company is planning to offer a virtual convenience store with actual and virtual goods and home delivery, as well as a virtual convenience store offering gasoline.

There are also plans to provide virtual and online festivals and other events.

Micheal Kondoudis, a metaverse trademark attorney, shared the news on Twitter earlier today.

Wawa is following the footsteps of other major companies making the move to NFTs and the metaverse.

Earlier this month, Chevron filed a new trademark application expressing its intention to enter the metaverse offering virtual products like gas, fuel, lubricants, and renewable energy products.

Likewise, large companies in the food industry have applied for trademarks in the past, such as Panera Bread, McDonald’s, Wingstop, Panda Express, Tyson Foods, Burger King, and others.
