Molson Coors Beverage Company to Enter the Metaverse With Virtual Beer and other Beverages

Molson Coors Beverage Company has filed trademark applications to enter the metaverse and embrace NFTs.

Molson Coors Beverage Company, the renowned American-Canadian multinational drink and brewing company headquartered in Chicago, Illinois, has filed five new trademark applications to register COORS, COORS LIGHT, COORS BANQUET, MILLER, and MILLER LIGHT, signaling its plans to enter the metaverse and the world of NFTs.

The applications, submitted to the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office on May 18, 2022, cover a variety of NFT and metaverse products and services, including:

  • Non-fungible tokens (NFTs);
  • Downloadable multimedia file containing artwork, text, audio, and/or video relating to beer and other beverage product merchandise, beer cans, and other alcohol and non-alcohol beverages authenticated by NFTs in metaverse platforms.
  • An online marketplace and metaverse platform and augmented reality platform marketplaces for buyers and sellers of NFTs.
  • Gaming services and art exhibition services in a virtual environment and metaverse platforms.

The news was shared earlier today via Twitter by metaverse trademark attorney Michael Kondoudis.

In addition to Molson Coors Beverage Company, other big brands have recently filed trademark applications to enter the metaverse with virtual food and drinks, such as Red Bull, Crown Royal, Wingstop, UTZ, Conagra Brands, Panera Bread, McDonald’s, Anheuser-Busch, and many others.
