Frito-Lay Is Ready to Enter the Metaverse and Provide NFTs

Frito-Lay has filed a trademark application to enter the metaverse and NFT space.

Frito-Lay, the American subsidiary of PepsiCo that manufactures, markets, and sells corn chips, potato chips, and other snack foods, has filed a trademark application for FRITO-LAY to enter the metaverse and the world of non-fungible tokens (NFTs).

According to the application, submitted to the USPTO on July 12, the company aims to provide:

  • Virtual food products;
  • Non-fungible tokens;
  • Digital media.

The news was shared earlier today via Twitter by metaverse trademark attorney Michael Metaverse.

Increasingly, trademark filings related to NFTs and Metaverse are being filed, with the food industry leading the way.

Hormel Foods, Mars, UTZ, Conagra Brands, Panera Bread, Wingstop, Panda Express, McDonald’s, and others have also applied for trademarks to enter the metaverse with virtual food and drinks and embrace NFTs.
