Chiquita Is Set to Enter the Metaverse and NFT Space

Chiquita has filed trademark applications to enter the metaverse and the world of NFTs.

Chiquita, the renowned American producer and distributor of bananas, has filed two trademark applications for “CHIQUITA” and its logo, expressing intentions to enter the metaverse and the world of non-fungible tokens (NFTs).

According to the applications, submitted to the USPTO on May 20, the company aims to provide:

  • Virtual food and beverage products for use in virtual environments;
  • NFTs;
  • Online retail services featuring NFTs and virtual goods.

The news was tweeted earlier today by metaverse trademark attorney Michael Kondoudis.

In addition to Chiquita, many other food companies have taken similar steps to enter the metaverse.

Recently, Hooters, Subway, Taco Bell, KFC, Burger King, Panera Bread, McDonald’s, Wingstop, Panda Express, Tyson Foods, Carl’s Jr., and others, have already filed trademark applications to express their intentions to enter the metaverse and provide NFTs.
